I don't live in Nova Scotia :(

Not everyone is lucky enough to live in the most beautiful place on earth (with truly the world's best weather year round. okay that's a joke) but if you don't have an active Nova Scotia health card I cannot see you unfortunately

Why is your practice called The Cottage?

The name first came to me as a I was designing the physical space of the office. I wanted it to be cozy, welcoming, nurturing. And I loved that it was going to be by the ocean, a place of healing with salt air and the maternal rhythmic sound of the waves. My little seaside cottage. But it means so much more than that. So many female healers have died over the centuries so that modern medicine could replace them. They held trials and accused them of witchcraft for healing patients doctors couldn't, for easing women's pain in childbirth, for treating the peasantry instead of the rich. I honor their memory with my sea witch's cottage.

Can you be my family doctor?

Although I am board certified in both Addiction Medicine and Family Medicine, I do not work as a family doctor. Rather, I treat mental health and addictions through a family medicine model. This means, unlike psychiatrists, I recognize the individual is part of larger systems (family, school, workplace, community) and treat them as such and also that I address the other body systems that affect our mental health (nervous, immune, GI, endocrine). This has been my focus since residency.
